Additional Memberships Available

wlaa Thu, 06/15/2017 - 17:00

Due to high demand the Committee have arranged for an additional 50 memberships to be made available for this season. This will bring the total number of available memberships to 150, this is the highest availability since the association began. Wether this number is to be maintained going forward or if it is to be increased further will be discussed at upcoming meetings. These memberships are on a strictly fist come first served basis and if they run out we do not expect to be increasing this number again this season.

Fly Tying Social Report

wlaa Thu, 11/24/2016 - 18:35

Last month at the FTS we covered parachute dry flies and traditional colar wound dries, for my money the Paradun was the more interesting to tie however if you're looking to fill your box with troutcatchers without the labours involved in tying parachutes you can check out my video on Vimeo https://vimeo.com/154584935 showing a very simple method of tying a colar wound dry fly.

This month's FTS will be replaced by the AGM and given that the following scheduled date is 2nd January it's more likely that we will resume in February.

Clean Water Survey

wlaa Wed, 11/02/2016 - 13:32

We have recently carried out some clean water surveying on the Almond and tributaries. We were specifically testing Nitrate and Phosphate levels. We were provided kits by the Clean Water for Wildlife project that is currently running in England so our thanks to them for being kind enough to send us five sampling kits. The test was carried out following the instructions provided in the kits and the results are outlined below.

Fly Tying Social (UPDATE)

wlaa Tue, 08/30/2016 - 11:07

We are planning to expand the Fly Tying Social and investing more time in preparing for next season. To this end we will be investing in materials and tools for members who would like to get into fly tying without the initial outlay. The association will provide all materials, hooks and tools for attendees, the focus of the FTS going forward will be tying patterns essential for fishing on the Almond with a view to introducing members to fly tying. Members will have the opportunity to learn to tie Nymphs, Dry Flies, Wets and Lures and prepare a fly box for the 2017 season.

Map Update

wlaa Tue, 08/30/2016 - 10:45
